Seventy-six rooms and suites across five categories, from NZ$265 a night. The hotel steps up the slope in four storeys, so the rooms stack rather than sprawl and almost none of them look at each other. Everything from Superior upwards faces the lake or the Remarkables.
Rates are the lowest available for two guests, room only, and move with the season. Check-in is from 3pm, check-out by 11am, and both are flexible when the house allows.
The Rooms
Five categories, refitted in 2024 in oak, wool and local stone.
Warm rather than minimal, on the theory that you have just come in off a mountain. Windows are double-glazed and open, heating is underfloor in the bathrooms and zoned everywhere else.
Classic Room
Twenty-five square metres at the rear of the building, over the courtyard and the bluff behind it. Queen bed, walk-in shower, work desk. Quiet, because nothing passes that side. From NZ$265 per night.
Superior Lake View
Thirty-one square metres on the lake side, king or twin, with a full-width window and a pair of armchairs in front of it. Bath and shower. Our most-booked room. From NZ$345 per night.
Executive Room
Thirty-nine square metres with the sitting area set apart from the bed. A proper desk, a Nespresso machine, and a corner position with the Remarkables in one window and the lake in the other. From NZ$449 per night.
Cecil Suite
Fifty-six square metres, one bedroom, and a living room with a door you can shut. The balcony faces Cecil Peak across the water and gets the last of the sun in summer. Freestanding bath, dining table for four. Six of these on the third floor. From NZ$655 per night.
Bluffs Penthouse
One hundred and four square metres across the top floor: two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen you could actually cook in, and a terrace the length of the lake side. Two-night minimum in the winter season. From NZ$1,180 per night.
In every room
Free unmetered Wi-Fi, blackout curtains, a minibar restocked daily, a safe sized for a 15-inch laptop, same-day laundry if in by 9am, ski storage with a drying room, and 24-hour room service from the Nevis Lounge menu.

Arrival and departure
Check-in / check-out
Check-in from 3pm, check-out by 11am. Early check-in and late check-out are free when the house allows — ask the night before and reception will tell you honestly.
Breakfast
Served in Bannockburn from 6:30am to 10:30am, 11am at weekends. NZ$36 per person, or included in most packages. Continental to the room at no extra charge.
Parking
Undercover parking on site at NZ$28 per night, thirty-one spaces, first come. Two EV chargers. The car park entrance is off Lake Esplanade.
Airport transfers
Queenstown Airport is fifteen minutes away. A private car is NZ$75 each way for up to three passengers; the concierge books shuttles for less.
Children
Welcome throughout the hotel, the restaurant, the pool and the terrace. The gaming lounge on Level One is the one exception: 20 and over, no exceptions.
Accessibility
Four accessible rooms, two Classic and two Superior, with roll-in showers and wider doorways. Lift access to every floor including the spa. Please tell us at booking so we hold the right room.
Pets
Assistance dogs welcome. No other animals, unfortunately.
Almost every room looks down the lake towards Cecil Peak,
and the walk into Queenstown takes ten minutes
